This summer i was in Bombay for vacation. 1 month of awesomeness…this was planned so that i could be there for my childhood friend, kunals bday.

Booked my tickets, Finnair.

Packed a few cloths in a backpack…me likes to travel light.

Sat next to a latvian lady who was going to Bangalore…goto Helsinki…only to find out that the plane has been delayed by 5 hours…5 hours later 7 hours later goto Bombay.

It feels like i never left bay…its all so familiar…the sights…the smell…the people.

Took a rick…got home.

Home sweet home…

Thing is…what is expensive…we always try to get away with the cheapest solution…make a bargain…end of season sale. Come to think of it we waste lot of money on stuff we dont need…like cigs, beer…COFEE!!! why someone would pay 30k for coffee is beyond my understanding. But then again I am being judgmental. Or its just my opinion.

Point being…nothing is cheap…and expense can take different forms…its does not need to be monitory. Sacrifices is a kind of expense. How much are you willing to sacrifice for something. It can be people, places or in this case money.

How far will you go to get that frame. Jeff Ascough said something interesting…”you cannot put a price on memories…”

Lot of people wrongly think that its me who takes the frame…its the camera+lens…ok maybe a good eye helps.

Coming back…as i said…i want a 5D. So i tried to see my 30D for 5k NOK or 35kRs. But not one seems to be interested, which surprises me…few years back i spent 20k Rs on a FZ5. Compared to that this is a steal. One reason i guess is because i am not selling a lens with it…why would i?…i have just prime lenses and not everyone wants them…most people are happy with a standard 18-55 kit lens, which retails for close to nothing.

I could reduce the price…but it just feels wrong to sell it any cheaper…if you like photography then be prepared to shell out some serious money. Suri…make some money…then like the good old days we can take some awesome frames…

In other news keeping up the suckage i ordered a new 17″ dell XPS laptop…nothing better than a Dell…way to go shank…

Bought some nice prawns for the weekend…in case you did not know…i consider prawns to be the best seafood out there…just as pork is the best meat…also the fact that i can cook both of them helps.

Two more weeks and i can do all these updates from home…and watch TWIN PEAKS…and stop watching TV…

Next on my list of purchasing is the 1TB Segate external drive and the 5D. Then i am set.

plan was to get these cheap rolls of film dev in bombay…but i never got it done…anyways…its done finally…6 rolls of film…and as per my sisters calculations that should last 6 weeks…genius.

Me is still in vacation mood…went to Oya festival…good music…and the rain gods had pity on us…

what else…what else…watching lot of TV as i still dont have a PC at home…need to get a laptop soon…

read the watchmen graphic novel…which is a masterpiece…looking forward to the movie…

am i the only one who felt that the new Batman movie was too long and a bit too much…

noticed that people like to relate actions to behaviors…

First weekend in Olso…Olve was kind enough to invite me for dinner. Had some really good and spicy Thai food.

Then on saturday luckily Olve got a splitting headache and i got watch Kungfu Panda…which was really good…thx to Olve again…

I also watched the trailer of Watchmen…and man is it awesome!!!…so i borrowed the Graphic Novel from Abel…and its AWESOME!!!

Finished reading The Hungry Tide by Amitav Ghosh…which was a nice book…so much better than the damn Midnight Children by Salman Rushdie…dont worry suri…i will still complete the book…

to all who made my time in bay awesome…

this has been the best vacation in bay so far…this despite all the ups and downs…

strangely enough i did not shoot that much film in bay…4 rolls…gave 6 rolls of film to the lab today…

i also got bored of digi pretty soon in bay…luckily the last few days gave the best frames of the trip…as usual…ALWAYS CARRY YOUR CAMERA

it was blast to be home and spend time with my family and friends…sadly i turn into the most lazy ass as soon as i step foot in my house in bay…

the return trip was also exciting…on my way from Helsinki to Stockholm…the pilot announced that due to a sudden drop in oil pressure we would have to turn back…nice…landed and we were surrounded by half a dozen fire trucks…

goto Oslo…bought a burger from Stat Oil…as usual…got home…which now feels empty without my Austrian mates…and then it started pouring cats and dogs…

Been a crazy week…my sis took a week off from work…mental…at least in bombay where work=life. So the whole week has been spent shopping and general indulgence.

Amidst all this i have been dealing with all sorts of ups and downs in the life of the people around me. One advantage of living in Oslo…has been the bubble i live in…i dont have to deal with all these issues…basically the thing called LIFE.

All of it is about relations…people happy with each other…or people pissed with each other…pretty simple. Tell that to them…it seems that at some point people just fail to understand things…or choose not to.

The first thing i found out when i got back is that fact that all my friends are settling down…which is kinda scary as i have no clue where my life is heading…and then earlier this week…one of my close friend broke up with his girl…come to think of it…i have seen more breaks-ups in 2008 than in all my life.

Single people want to be a couple and couples want to be single…and grass is still greener on the other side of the fence and sun still rises from the west.

Dont feel like taking any pics…there is roll of cheap film in the camera…but my ass is lazy as ever…

I have been walking around my colony…hoping to connect to the past. But over the years things have so much that all the things that made this place my home are left just in my memory. I feel completely detached. The past seems like a dream…growing up…going to school…playing with friends…fighting with my sister…

I am glad i now have a camera…at least i can freeze time…parts of it…

The speakers are singing Shine on you crazy diamond by Pink Floyd…i still remember the day suri gave me a cassette on which he recorded some tracks by Pink Floyd and Pearl Jam.

As a kid i always wanted to grow up…and now i miss those carefree days…i guess thats the price one pays for growing up…

Kunal and me were wondering where we will be in the next five years…who all will get married…who all will have kids…and come to think of it…five years will pass by and we wont even notice. I hope we still remain in touch…

…met up with relatives on sunday and talked of the good-ol-days where we were kids…

the first day i got to bay…sis and me were looking at the old albums…when my parents were newly weds…my dad had taken a LOT of pics of my mom with his AGFA cameras…

28 years later…mom still looks great…wrinkles and all…

she is still extremely irritating and nagging…

met up with friends at night…hanging around…

The trip to bay was full of…exciting times…let me explain…

Everything was fine till i goto Helsinki…thats where i found out that the flight to bay was delayed by 4 hours…then i meet an Indian…

according to him Ukrainian chicks are the best in the world
he had 15 girlfriends in 12 months…
he does not trust the “the best in the world” because they have sex with one person in the morning and another at night
he told me that i should speak in Hindi if i am “True India”

needless to say…i managed to find another more “Intelligent” person…a psychologist from Stavanger…

We waited for about 30 mins for the food counter only to be told that the food would take an hour to be prepared…nice…so we just grabbed a sandwich…at least they had Stongbow…

On the plane i was sitting next to a Latvian lady who liked Bollywood movies…

The steward managed to spill milk on my hands as he was serving breakfast…

The customs officer had a problem with me getting two cameras in to the country…luckily both the cameras were worn out…so it was all good..

Exciting times…

Got home to find out that the computer(my old one) had broken down…the technician bought it in the evening and was pretty close to being beaten up by yours truly for his complete lack of technical skills…

he told my dad that

i found out that

the only that was broken was the gfx drivers…if only people did their jobs…

Anyways…all this is forgotten once i eat the awesome food made my mom and spend time with my family and friends…
