After years of planning, Kev and I finally made the pilgrimage to the temple of powder, Japan.
The last time I was in Japan was in 2008, a decade ago when we did not have the luxury of Google Maps nor did I snowboard.
Kev flew in from Vancouver and i flew from Stockholm, we met up at Tokyo on New Years eve where we would spend one night in a capsule hotel to save some money.
First stop was at Kikanbo to get some Ramen
Next day we got on the high speed train to Nagano.
As someone who does not have breakfast usually, I decided to treat myself.
We went past the majestic Mt.Fuji
After a bus ride, we got to Hakuba
The conditions were perfect, with knee deep powder.
Kev took the lead being the more experienced boarder as we made our way across some sketchy sections from one mountain to another
Tired from the day we stopped by one of handful of restaurants for dinner.
Next day things too turn for the worst as we headed to Happy One, the biggest of the mountains. Conditions were appalling and we decided to call it a day earlier than usual
Couple of days later we were back in Tokyo
There is something magical about Japan, similar to Hawaii…until next time.
