We first went to this beach at storøya, which was supposed to be awesome. The only thing i saw, was the awesome number of people(and kids) there. As we were there we took a dip in the water anyways…that done we decided to head to the beach at halden brygge. Nice beach…ok not a sandy beach but less people(and kids).

I dont know how to swim…yes there are people like me. Luckily i have friend who insist i learn how to swim…and thats what i did…not swimming…a bit of floating. It reminds me learning how to cycle. All good.

So i have been here for three years now…and finally i went for a swim. This shows it all depends on the company you keep.

This will probably be the last post before i head to India for vacation.

the french did not let me down…they made tasty food…not sure if i like the 50/1.8…the 28/2.8 renders better

Gressholmen is an islet located in the Oslofjord, just south of central Oslo. Administratively it belongs to the borough of Gamle Oslo.

Gressholmen airport was for the years 1927 through 1939 the location of the main airport for Oslo, until the construction of Fornebu airport. The airport was only for seaplanes.

You take a ferry from Aker Brygge (left side towards the castle), you can use the same tickets you use for the bus/train.

been a long time since i prepared pork…so bought a kilo of pork and made some tasty curry

we made it to the ferry just in time…with some running…which nearly killed me


olve pissed about being hit on the head by the plane

the girls were the first to get into the water…keep in mind…the water was cold

while i relaxed and had some grapes…it was all very Caligula (Guillaume took this one)

people were using sunscreen…which i did not and at the end of the day…i was a.o.k, the dark Indian skin saves the day

maja pointed out the BIG ship which had…literally sneaked in

olve was wearing his national flag…as i said…Norwegians are quite nationalistic (contrary to what they think)

The blog is running one week late.

Was bored at home…as usual. There was dinner at Olve and Majas place in the evening but i had to kill time till then, so picked up the phone and called Ville and Rikka. Decided to goto Sognsvann.

Having a monthly pass means one can hop on the Bus/Tram/Train/Ferry and get pretty much everywhere in Oslo. The public transport is pretty good. I case you are here for a short trip you can buy a FlexiCard which has 8 tickets which has to be punched when you need to travel and is valid for 1 hour on all kinds of public transport.

About Sognsvann and how to get there

Sognsvann (or Sognsvannet[1]) is a 3.3km circumference lake just north of Oslo, Norway.

Lying just within the greenbelt around Oslo, the lake is a popular recreational area, used as a camping, picnicking and bathing destination for the residents of Oslo during the summer, as well as a cross-country skiing, skating and ice fishing destination in the winter. The trail around it is used for walking or jogging all year. Cycling around the lake is prohibited due to large number of people covering this road on foot. Disabled access is good to and around the lake.

Part of the lake’s popularity stems from its easy access from Oslo; Sognsvann station, located on the south end of the lake, is the final stop on line 3 on the Oslo T-bane.

Svartkulp, a small forest lake which is one of three nudist beaches in Oslo, lies a few hundred meters to the east of Sognsvann.

after walking around the big lake we decided to goto the smaller one.

from the earlier trip, i knew it was just next to the big lake.

but for some reason we got lost…we asked a lady who told us to take a right…which we did…only to realize she meant OUR right

asked another guy and he told us to go back and showed us the lake on the map…we finally got there

got a haircut from Maja’s sister, she has done the hair for one of the Prime Minister of Norway. How cool is that. I had a pretty bad experience getting a hair cut by some random old man, since then i make sure i know the person who cuts my hair.

on my way home from work…I have no idea whats happening here as the bus is not even supposed to be there…driver must be lost…damn immigrants (inside joke)

Finished a roll of trix testing the 100/2.8. For some random reason put another roll to try out how it feels to use a zoom lens, have a 34-70/4 lens which i have never used.

Met up with per, jon and chloe, then went to Rockin. Going out to town is becoming a drag as its the same thing every time. Got home at 4 and got a call from dad at 8. Called back and went back to sleep. Got up at 12.

Missed the jap game show as my nerdy flatmates are playing Rock Band.

later we went to a place called Beer Palace…its supposed to be THE place to go if you like beer…I DONT LIKE BEER…anyways…i asked for Kingfisher…which the bartender had not heard of…and when i told her its THE Indian beer…she told me the only indian beer she has is Cobra…to which i told her that…Cobra is British and not India…this seemed to piss her off as i had to wait 10 mins to get my order…nice…
anyways…at least they had strongbow…and a pool table

mid week…met up with kristine for dinner and then to goto mono where Marty Willson-Piper was playing…

it was sunny…and cold at the same time…

…its a pleasant 15 degrees here is in oslo…nice and sunny…

had dan and son been here…we would probably be doing some barbecue…and be drinking wine…sadly there are not here…

so here i am at work…

speaking of work…now that the game i am working on, “Age of Conan” is close to being released…i got to have a look the manual…and finally got to see my name in the credits…

its taken me 4.4 years to get here…a published game…

i am a game developer…sadly there are more artist and coder for whom this is just a 9-5 job…people who did not have to struggle…people who take all this for granted…

ah well…i am not in a mood to rant…fuck it…

anyways…4 jobs…4.4 years…moving away from home…moving away from friends…moving away from country…

is it worth it?

totally…

painful but worth it…

i remember those days clearly when i spoke to couple of guys at my first job…that i wanted to leave programming and get into game dev…some thought i was mad…some said go for it…

i did not have a job for couple of months…

i wonder what my family thought…especially my dad…see dad…i made it…

its all about how much you are willing to sacrifice…how much you want it…

its not about what you can do…its about what you want to do…

its about doing what you love and loving what you do

and now, a new beginning…back to the drawing board…a clean slate…

and some frames of time caught on a sensor…
